EMILE MARTIN, D.D.S.: The technology is interesting in that there's very few things that I do the same today that I did when I got out of school in the mid '70s. Everything from the materials that we use for fillings, the technology that we use for X-rays—we have digital X-ray system both in our panoramic as well as our intra oral X-rays. They're practically instantaneous. They come up, we can manipulate them. They're green. In today's world, we want to talk about green. There's no chemicals in our solutions that we have to deal with, both the fumes that the staff might have to clean our X-ray machines or the fact that we have to dispose of those chemicals. So we're very proud of being able to do that.

We're certainly more efficient than we were at one time. We'd like to be cutting edge, not bleeding edge, and so there are a number of things that continue to come down the pike that we are evaluating continuously. The practice has not gone paperless. We have a - - system. It's all digital X-ray. We're moving completely away from that. Again, that's probably greener. And we also have laser technology in our practice. We have had a laser in the practice since 1994, and we have a newer soft tissue one that we're just implementing now. Dentistry has changed completely in the time that I've been practicing, everything from rotary instrumentation for a root canal therapy, laser technology, digital X-rays, and we continue to expand those opportunities within the practice as we go.
