Dental Bridges in Syracuse
Not only can missing teeth adversely affect your appearance, they can also affect your speaking and chewing abilities. Dental bridges provide a permanent solution to the empty spaces in your mouth. Unlike partial dentures, which run the risk of coming loose or getting stuck with food during the day, dental bridges are permanently attached to adjacent teeth and don’t require constant attention. Martin & Winkler offer dental bridges at their Auburn, NY and Syracuse dental practices. Find out if a dental bridge is the right solution to get you smiling again.
Who Is a Good Candidate for a Dental Bridge?
A person is a good candidate for a dental bridge if they experience any of the following issues:
- One or more missing teeth
- Problems chewing or speaking due to missing teeth
- Teeth that are shifting due to gaps
- Jaw pain and other problems caused by an uneven bite from missing teeth
The Dental Bridge Placement Process
Dental bridge treatment is performed over the course of three visits to our Syracuse dental office. During your first visit, we will prepare your teeth for bridge placement by re-contouring the tooth or teeth that surround the gap. If the surrounding tooth or teeth are decayed, we will need to repair them before placing the bridge. Once your teeth are ready, your dentist will then take an impression of your mouth in order to create a bridge that properly fits your bite. While your bridge is being made, we will place a temporary bridge so that your teeth and gums are protected from damage.
Once your permanent dental bridge is ready, you will need to return to our office. Before placing your permanent dental bridge, we will check that the bridge fits you properly and comfortably. Once securely fitted into position, we will use dental cement to bond the bridge into place.
